Wadi (Maison Asrar) vs Le Beau Paradise Garden: does the dupe hold up?

Maison Asrar Wadi next to Le Beau Paradise Garden

It's the dupe everyone has been talking about for months: Wadi by Maison Asrar, sold everywhere as the copy of Le Beau Paradise Garden by Jean Paul Gaultier. We wore them side by side, one on each arm. Here's the verdict.

The pyramids, head to head

On paper the DNA is identical: pineapple and coconut on top, vanilla and tonka at the bottom. The difference happens in the heart — floral and sunny for JPG, more herbal and aromatic for Maison Asrar.

On the opening: very close

The first ten minutes are impressive. Same juicy pineapple, same creamy coconut, same "luxury monoi" effect. To an untrained nose, they're indistinguishable.

After an hour: the gap shows

Le Beau Paradise Garden turns floral and rounder, with orange blossom softening the fruit. Wadi drifts toward a more aromatic register, clary sage and lavender adding a slightly herbal facet the original doesn't have. It's sweeter too, and a little heavier.

Our take

Wadi isn't a millimetre-perfect copy — it's a very good interpretation. From across a room, nobody will tell them apart. Nose to wrist, an enthusiast will.

Longevity and sillage

This is where Wadi surprises: strong projection for 3 to 4 hours and 8 hours on skin, a notch above the original, whose performance stays moderate. Gulf houses load up on concentration, and it shows.

Which one should you buy?

  • Wadi (420 MAD) — if you want the gourmand tropical style without spending 1,500 MAD, or if you spray generously without counting.
  • Le Beau Paradise Garden (1,500 MAD) — if you want the exact rendition, the iconic bottle and the more floral signature.

The 130 MAD test

We carry Le Beau Paradise Garden as a 10ml decant at 130 MAD. Order it together with Wadi: compare both at home, on your own skin, before deciding where your budget goes.

And if it's fresh, minty coconut you're after rather than pineapple, the original Le Beau remains a safe bet.
