Victoria's Secret Body Lotion in Morocco: All 11, 230 MAD

One formula, eleven scents

This is the first thing to know, and it makes choosing easier: all eleven lotions share the same hydrating base, enriched with aloe vera, oat and vitamin E. What changes from tube to tube is the scent — and, for the two Shimmers, the shimmer finish.

In other words, you are not choosing "the most moisturising one": they are all equally so. You are choosing the smell that will follow you from the shower to the evening.

To be clear about what this is: a scented body lotion, an everyday product that hydrates and perfumes. It is not a treatment cream. How to apply it: three steps, no more

Victoria's Secret gives the same instructions for the whole range, and they fit in three lines:

1. Apply to clean, dry skin, right after showering. That is when skin takes a body product best, and it is the step that gets skipped first when you are rushing.
2. Massage in until fully absorbed. Arms, legs, shoulders, with extra attention to the spots that dry out first: elbows, knees, shins. If the lotion sits on the surface, you have used too much — a small amount per area is enough.
3. Layer the mist of the same scent on top if you want a longer trail. The lotion is the base, the mist goes over it.

A 236 ml tube is meant to be used freely: this is daily care, not something to save for special occasions.

Choosing by scent, and by time of day

Since the formula is shared, the real question is when you are going to wear it.

• Everyday, office. Bare Vanilla, whipped vanilla and powdery cashmere "worn skin to skin": the easiest of the lot, only noticed up close. Velvet Petals — peony, jasmine, musk and sandalwood — is the floral option, powdery and clean.
• A proper gourmand. Vanilla Lace adds café au lait, pink hydrangea and lily of the valley to the vanilla, over sandalwood: richer, more "perfume" than Bare Vanilla.
• Late in the day. Amber Romance, deep amber softened by sugar, and Midnight Bloom, a moonflower night floral on creamy woods. The warmest in the range.
• Fruity. Love Spell — cherry blossom, peach, red apple, lily, then musk and blonde woods — for daytime; Pure Seduction, juiced plum and freesia, made for the night.
• Summer. Aqua Kiss, freesia, aloe vera, daisy and sea notes, the only genuinely fresh one. Coconut Passion, island coconut and warm sands, for anyone who wants the beach on their skin even in Fes in July.

Shimmer lotions: for summer evenings and weddings

Two scents come in a Shimmer version: Bare Vanilla Shimmer and Pure Seduction Shimmer. Same scent as the classic lotion, same aloe vera, oat and vitamin E base, same price — but they leave a shimmer finish on the skin, golden for Bare Vanilla.

They belong on shoulders, arms and décolleté, wherever skin is on show. A summer evening on a terrace, a backless dress, a wedding where you dance until dawn. At the office, the classic version stays more discreet.

Choosing between the two is simple: Bare Vanilla Shimmer for a soft glimmer and a scent that doesn't push itself forward, Pure Seduction Shimmer for the night-time fruity that goes with the evening dress.

Lotion under mist: the duos at 430 MAD

The lotion is designed to be worn under the mist of the same scent: it hydrates and holds the fragrance, the mist lifts it on top. Nine scents come as a duo of lotion 236 ml + mist 250 ml at 430 MAD, instead of 460 MAD buying both separately:

Dry season: what actually changes

In autumn and winter, between heating, office air conditioning and the dry air of the interior, skin feels tight sooner. Three adjustments, no new product needed:

• Don't skip the after-shower application. Clean, still-warm skin gets the most out of the lotion — it is the first line of the instructions, and the most neglected.
• Switch to the warm scents. Amber Romance, Vanilla Lace and Bare Vanilla suit the season better than Aqua Kiss; keep the fresh ones for May.
• Moisturise before you perfume. Hydrated skin holds a scent far longer than dry skin: true for the mist, and for your perfume. Applying fragrance on moisturised skin is also one of the tips in our selection of the longest-lasting fragrances.

Where to start
